1. Character Name: No-Eyes, The Bone Serpent

2. Character Backstory:

Is it a terrible curse, to be blinded? To forget that which you saw, and watch the memory fade with time until all that remains is a glazed black? Or, is it worse to be born without eyes, never to see at all, so that there is nothing to miss? We do not know. Perhaps we had eyes once, but if we did, we do not remember. All we knew then, was the dark.

We remember the sounds. Songs of distant creatures larger than even us, serenaded from one end of the black to the other. The chittering of a trillion minuscule mouths as they tore open the flesh of a lifeless corpse. The crash of wave against wave where the seas would meet. But most of all, we remember the sound of bone, cleaned and made bare by the creatures above, as it would land upon the ocean floor. We remember the crunch it made within our jaws, the satisfying rip as marrow spilled into the waters.

We lived like this for longer than our memory can reveal. We felt the tug of the tides as often as the heart of a beast would beat, but eventually, the sounds we once heard became fewer. We became impatient as we awaited the music of the deep that had once contented us, the music that now was much fainter than before. We crawled along the sand and bone of the ocean floor searching for it once more, but instead, we found the rise of land, and soon, a beach.

“Run!” We heard it sing amid the crunching of a creature we had not tasted before. “Monster!” We heard before the snapping bones of another. In time, these sounds made sense to us; but the music behind them was sour, and made for poor listening. We came to know the sound of ‘footsteps’, and to avoid them if we could. One day we found a cold dark that reminded us of the deep, a place away from the strange warmth the creatures here enjoyed. There we stayed for a very long time, there we stay for now, perhaps we will stay there forever.

“Anoma” The creature we had eaten called this place.

3. Character's Purpose: (This is what your character seeks to achieve!)

No-Eyes is a natural golem formed from a Calcite deposit found deep on the sea-floor, awakened by an underwater ley-line centuries ago. It’s creation and survival in the pitch-black conditions beneath the waves have given it an unusual, almost alien understanding of the world and of itself, which is further exacerbated by its natural blindness.

No-Eyes has developed an obsession with sound, particularly that of music, and pursues it whenever it can not only to appreciate it, but to understand it. Also, as a formation of Calcite, No-Eyes has become used to consuming forms of its mineral, most notably Calcium, which is found most abundantly in bones, to repair and regenerate itself. It has unknowingly adopted a skeletal appearance, which may lead it into trouble. If, you know, eating people and animals didn’t already get it into trouble.

4.  Write a small scenario for how your character reacts to one of the following circumstances, and what ensues:

4b. You come upon a burning building, and you can hear the sounds of someone shouting from within.

No-Eyes stirs from its rest within the damp, dark cave; its skeletal head raised to listen into the night at the harsh song souring the air. It’s rounded rib cage stretches out upon the stone floor as it began its incursion into the night, following this sound with the fervor of a dog entranced by a sweltering steak as it slithered onward.

The skeletal serpent becomes reluctant in its advance as the shouting becomes drowned in the sea of flames now pouring out of the burning home. This sound was unfamiliar to it, and there was no melody to be heard within its voice; only all-consuming noise, harsh and unforgiving noise, conjoined with unfathomable heat.

As it stared eyelessly into the burning mass of wood, now crumbling to the ground in a heap of flames, it heard the distant sounds of rapid footsteps, of shouts and screams, growing ever closer with each passing moment. No-Eyes was unsure of what it had just beheld as it turned tail and fled through the night once more, but with the unknown, came worry.

Settling back into its cave, its body coiled in upon itself like a serpent resting after a hunt, the creature’s form was unmoving. But within its mind stirred the sound of the roaring heat it had just experienced for the first time. Whatever it was, it reminded the serpent of something it had not felt in a very long time. Fear.

5. Character's primary axis of morality: (What is the most important thing to your character?)

No-eyes values its own survival above all else right now, and has had limited experience with morality. For the vast majority of its life it has lived much like an animal, thus does not comprehend the notion of a higher cause just yet. For now it remains this way, and depending on its encounters with the settlers of Anoma, especially the first encounters, may develop a positive or negative moral spectrum.

6. Is your character a good person?

At present No-Eyes is truly neutral and has positive aspects of its personality, as well as negative ones; but they’re all simple aspects, much like an animal would have.

PLAYER APP

1. Why do you want to play an application race?

I’ve been drawn to playing creature races for nearly ten years now and greatly enjoy it over standard roleplay. Also with my work schedule I think it will be easier to play than something like a farmer or soldier who has to be dedicated to a group of some sort and actively contribute to them. An ageless creature that eats basically rocks is easy to pick up and put down whenever.

2. How long, and through what mediums have you been roleplaying?

I have been roleplaying through Minecraft, Gmod, WoW, GW2, and DnD for nearly a decade now.

3. Give a description of the lore for your unique race, and explain how it fits into the overall lore of the server. This lore should include why your species is so rare.

Natural Golems are creatures of many different compositions and appearances that have been raised from the building blocks of the natural world by the magical ley-lines that run across it. Their creation is entirely by chance; much like the materials that happen to be nearby them at the time. While not as durable as some other types of golems, most notably artificially created ones, they’re immensely stronger than their counterparts; and have a penchant for quickly learning languages. A magical core comprises the creature's heart and, should it be destroyed, will spell death for it.

Natural-Golems do not fit a standard mold and can be found in a myriad of different shapes and sizes, with some being as small as four feet, to others (played by event folks) being nearly thirty feet tall. However, throughout life, they remain tied to the material they came from and can consume it to repair themselves should they need to do so.

While Natural Golems themselves are fairly rare, the creation of one in the deepest depths of the ocean is even less likely. In this environment the same leyline pulses that create them also bring to life Shadow Alemnetries and Depths Alemnetries; much deadlier beasts capable of combating and dispatching a golem. Even should one evade these predatory cousins a host of other monstrous sea-life, both sentient and bestial, make their odds of prolonged survival slim. No-Eyes' survival is attributed to luck, and his skeletal form, which allowed it the luxury of ambushing prey as an apparently unassuming corpse.

No-Eyes' creation in the deepest depths of the ocean has resulted in a physicality that is atypical of land-dwelling natural golems.

Hunter In The Dark: (Perception of the world is altered. Range of perception is equivalent to standard #w, #q, #t, #s ranges.) The pitch black environment of the deep ocean left little need for sight, and as such No-Eyes never developed eyes. Instead, the interior of the serpent's skull has formed into a series of sound-reflective ducts and channels that allow it an innate prowess with echolocation, much like a whale or dolphin.

Skeletal Form: (Can dash, at the cost of reduced mass. Remaining mass is extremely dense, raising durability to be on par with iron. Movement speed is equivalent to standard non-organic golems.) Constant maneuvering in a fluid environment, exacerbated by deep ocean pressures, leaves No-Eyes with a minimal amount of mass. The result of this is a skeleton-like, hydrodynamic body that allows water to pass through it and grant greater agility.

The Jaws of Gaia: (Strength of Gaia is converted into bite force. Regular non-organic golem strength is halved.) A trademark of non-organic natural golems is their incredible strength and for No-Eyes this is no exception, despite an altered method of application. The Strength of Gaia has been adapted to directly affect the serpent's bite force, resulting in an exceptionally powerful, if primitive, method of attack which can be further amplified by successful rolls with the same mechanics. However, as a consequence of not having arms, the serpent's own strength is reduced by half and any amplifying rolls will be similarly reduced.

4. With your lore in mind, please explain what unique niche this creature can fill that is not already filled by existing creatures on the server, and what narratives or plotlines it has the potential to create.

Altered perception allows No Eyes' to see things in a way that most characters do not, creating an atypical understanding of the world around it that provokes additional thought when interacting with sight-oriented races; without crippling its capabilities as a character. Where one might ask No Eyes' questions about his perceptions, the same occurs in reverse; with the serpent employing the sighted to tell it things it cannot know by itself. In its' most basic form this has resulted in a 'seeing-eye elf' as a companion, which is both engaging and humorous. Mechanical tweaks to the serpent's form are just that; tweaks, meant to encourage a slightly different approach to RP without deviating too far away from the nature of a Natural Golem. At its heart, No Eyes is meant as a statistical outlier to its race and not an entirely 'unique' entity.

No Eyes has gained an additive to his CA. The character now falls under a Unique App (though frankly not much changes).
